Bangkok taxi explodes while waiting in line for safety test

An NGV taxi exploded while waiting in line for a safety inspection today at the Chatuchak Land Transport Department in Bangkok.

Suffice to say, we’re pretty sure it failed the safety test.

Ten taxis were waiting in line for the inspection when explosions went off in the engine of a blue taxi and it burst into flames.

Transport department staff tried to put out the fire with an extinguisher – when that failed, they then pushed it into an open area to let it burn, the Bangkok Post reported.

Taxi drivers fled the scene, but thankfully no injuries were reported.
