Foreigner Bullied by Beach Whore’s Ex-Boyfriend

A foreign man was fondling a prostitute as they watched fireworks together on Pattaya Beach. But her drunken ex-boyfriend spotted them and threatened the foreigner with a handgun. A nearby plainclothes officer arrested the jealous Thai, whose homemade pistol was unloaded.

PATTAYA – December 2, 2012 [PDN]; at 1:15 a.m., a police detective reported that he had arrested a Thai man who used a gun to threaten a foreigner. The report was received by Pol. Lt. Vitsanu Chaisuwan, Deputy Inspector at the Pattaya police station, who went to check the scene with a police team.

The incident occurred in front of the P.S. Guest House in Soi 13/1 (Soi Yamoto) on Pattaya Beach Road. Police arrived at the scene, where a plainclothes detective officer was detaining the trouble maker, identified as Mr. Somsak Arnon or Dam, age 32.

Mr. Somsak, who had tattoos all over his body, was drunk and kept shouting. The police also seized a home-made pistol, which had been crafted from a short knife. Police also seized a leather bag, but did not find any bullets in the bag or inside the pistol.

The undercover officer who made the arrest saw the entire incident. He said Mr. Somsak was part of a group of friends, both male and female, who were quarrelling with the foreign man on the beach. The undercover detective was dressed in civilian clothes, so the troublemakers were not aware that a police officer was watching them.

The officer then saw Mr. Somsak take out the gun from his waistband to threaten the foreign man. The officer then stepped forward and arrested Mr. Somsak and seized his gun. However, after Mr. Somsak’s arrest, the foreign man forgave the jealous Thai and declined to press charges, and he eventually left the scene.

During questioning, Mr. Somsak confessed that the gun belonged to him, but he claimed that he cannot shoot his gun because it does not have any bullets. He said he only carried around his gun to threaten people.

Mr. Somsak explained why he took out his gun to make trouble with the foreigner. He had been peacefully drinking liquor with his group of friends to watch the Saturday night fireworks on Pattaya Beach. However, he then spotted the foreign man with his ex-girlfriend, who now works as a prostitute on Beach Road.

In his drunken state, Mr. Somsak became enraged when he saw the foreigner groping his ex-girlfriend. So he threatened the foreigner with his pistol. But Mr. Somsak was not aware that a nearby police detective had witnessed everything, so he was arrested. Police restrained Mr. Somsak for having an illegal firearm, and will investigate further and prosecute him according to the law.
