A 50-year-old Russian was drugged and robbed by a good-looking ladyboy and Russian woman he met on Jomtien beach. He invited them to drink vodka in his luxury home, but passed out after they spiked his drink. The pair stole his car and a small safe containing documents and $50,000 in U.S. dollars.
PATTAYA – December 8, 2012 [PDN]; at 12 p.m., a report of a foreigner being drugged and robbed of more than 1 million THB in cash and property was received by Pol. Lt. Thanasak Prasartthong, investigation officer, Sattahip police station.
He went to check the scene with Pol. Col. Chonnapat Nawalak, Superintendent, Sattahip police station; Pol. Lt. Col. Prakorb Saengpring, Deputy Superintendent; Pol. Lt. Col. Niphon Pomsanarm, Deputy Superintendent; a detective police team; and the science officer in charge of collecting evidence.
The incident occurred in a single-story house blockaded by a fence in Koonsuk village in Tambon Bang Sarey, Sattahip. At the scene, police found the shirtless victim still unconscious in the bedroom. He was identified as Mr. Alexander Matusov, age 50, nationality Russian.
He was lying face down on the bed, so the police woke him up. Mr. Alexander then checked his house and discovered that his safe was missing. It had contained his passport, $50,000 U.S. dollars (approximately 1,500,000 THB), two bank branch ATM cards with combined 800,000 THB in deposits, and 2 title deeds to properties. The thieves had also stolen his car parked in the garage, a white Toyota Vios, license number KHOR KHOR-7443 Chonburi.
During questioning, Mr. Alexander told police that he owns a department store in Russia. But he let his daughter take care of the business, and had come to Thailand to buy a house to live for more than a year.
On the previous night, Mr. Alexander said he was feeling lonely, so he drove his car to Soi Chaiyapreuk on Jomtien beach. There he met the Russian woman, and she was with a good-looking ladyboy who appeared between ages 25-30.
Mr. Alexander liked them, so he persuaded both of them to come and drink vodka at his house in the bedroom. At the house, he did not have any sexual relationship with his new friends, but he later became unconscious. Then he was woken up by the police.
Mr. Alexander discovered that the thieves had removed some of his clothing, and they had stolen all his valuable properties. He said the large amount of cash stashed in his safe was meant to buy a condominium as a gift for his daughter, who was coming to Thailand to live with him.
Pol. Col. Chonnapat commented that this kind of crime against a foreigner creates a very bad image for Thailand. However, the police will work as much as possible to follow up to arrest the two thieves.
The police assumed the two suspects were friends who worked together to rip off tourists. The detective police team was assigned to track down the suspects in Pattaya, to follow up to arrest the thieves to punish according to the law.
The police scientific officer found many fingerprints of the suspects in the house. The police commander expected that they will be able to arrest the thieves soon.
